Interview with Antonio Peres Vieira Filho

Hello Antonio, could you tell us a bit about yourself and your current job?
My name is Antonio Peres Vieira Filho, I'm 37 years old, Brazilian and I live in the city of Sao Paulo (Brazil). I am currently working in the company Digital key as chief creative officer and responsible for modeling 3d - electronic model, characters, 3d vegetation.
What’s the secret behind your photorealistic renders?
I believe it is perception. I always compare my images with photos and scenes from movies and try to reach the closest possible. I try not to be limited only on renderers. Study the v-Ray and mental ray whenever I can.
Please tell us which tools you use from your arsenal to create the characters?
I'm very dedicated to computer graphics. I have six years of experience in modeling.
I currently work with 3ds max 2011 to create environments and characters bases, ZBrush for sculpting and detailing the models and generate maps cavity, bump, and normal map and after effects and Photoshop for color correction and post production.
Do you do any preliminary drawings before you model, or do you just start and see what happens and how long on average would you spend on a character?
Yes, Mostly do the preliminary drawings so I have the final shape and the pose of the character. Some characters take months of development until they are finalized.
Of all of your artwork, which piece is your personal favorite and why?
My favorite work is davy jones, because he was my biggest challenge. That was really an amazing character and extremely difficult. I dedicated myself as much as possible and hope you all enjoyed it.
