Interview with Jamie Clark

On which projects you are working these days, and which project you enjoying the most.

Right now I’m working on a show called Eureka. I’m about to also start work on the Battlestar Galactica movie.

I enjoy most of what I do. It’s really all about the people for the most part and I’m fortunate to work with some of the best artists and all-around good guys that I’ve ever known.

Do you have a dream project that you would like to work on?

I don’t really have one right now. I would have loved to work on something like Lord of the Rings but those movies are done so not much chance of that

If you could create yourself as any 3D character whether it's in a game or a film who would it be?

I’d want to be cool like Max Payne or something. A guy who shoots from the hip and is always fighting the good fight

What are your hobbies and where you see yourself after 5 years?

I love cars. I have two Mustangs and have just restored one of them. I’ve recently started to do some high-end detailing with a buffer and polishes and so on after restoring my ’91 and I enjoy that quite a lot.

In five years… I have no idea. I hope to still be working on exciting projects and creating inspiring art. If not maybe I’ll take up another profession… car detailing?

What is one piece of advice you would give to any artist looking to get into 3D or 2D?

I would say that you should really love what you’re doing, because life is too short to work in a job that you don’t enjoy. If you love it then you’ll work very hard and get very good at it and the jobs will come.

Look at other artists work and see who the best ones are and try to achieve similar results. On a technical note… make sure your demo reel has your name on it.

Anything you like to add? It is your chance now to state your opinion about anything.

The only thing I would like to add is that the best way to learn this art is to be humble. Realize that you don’t know everything and that there are others who have a lot to offer if you just take the time to listen.

I learn things all the time every day and the reason is because I have an open mind and I don’t think I’m above anyone else. I try to learn as much as I can from the very talented artists that I’m around.

Thanks a lot Jamie for your time. Best Wishes for future.
