Interview with Lukasz Szeflinski

Of all of your artwork, which piece is your personal favorite and why?

Yuka of course :). I devoted to it many hours and I finished up all the details But when I have finished my new project that I am working on, it will hopefully take Yuka’s place :)

Which area of 3d do your really enjoy doing?

Because of my architectural background I really like architectural visualizations. However, I also enjoy working in Photoshop because it combines traditional drawing with computer manipulation e.g. you can easily reshape the image, change or delete particular parts, use different brushes and tools. That gives you freedom and possibilities that you do not have using traditional tools. Apart from that, I am a computer geek ;) I just enjoy working with computer ;)

What software program(s) do you use for your CG and why?

Professionally I work with 3dsmax for 3d content and Photoshop for 2d. As far as 3D software is concerned,  I have tried other programs but for me 3dsmax is the most intuitive one.

What is one piece of advice you would give to any artist looking to get into 3D?

You have to create and expose your artworks to critical voices because that is how you get the necessary knowledge about what people like, which consequently enables you to improve your works and become better in what you do. Yet, you must remember not to give up because you always learn something and sooner or later you will benefit from it.

Are you working on any projects currently? If so, what are they?

Yes, currently I'm working on a new personal project: a 3d scene. After a very detailed 2d work, which was Yuka,  I came to the conclusion that I needed to do something really detailed in 3d. The scene I am working on requires from me a lot of texturing so it will take me some time to finish it but I do hope that people will enjoy it and will be able to see the amount of work I put in it.

What are your plans for future?

As I have said, I currently work in the architectural visualization company in Cyprus (Progressive Technologies) and I plan to stay a bit more. How long…? It depends on what future brings ;)

How do you rate CGArena, like to give any message to our readers?

CGArena is a well administrated web site. There is everything people need: tutorials, job offers and other free stuff that is useful for creating cg content. However, what I find particularly important is that apart from widely-known artists you offer opportunities for “fresh” artists by presenting their works on your web site. And as for the message, what can I tell you guys… Keep having fun doing CG ;)

Thanks a lot Lukasz for taking out sometime for us from your busy schedule.

Thank you. It was my pleasure
