CGArena is proud to present “Design the Mascot” 3D Challenge, 10 Nov 2009 - 14th Dec 2009 (Deadline Extended). Winners will be rewarded with special prizes from Eat 3D. Express your creative ideas in a new and interesting way.

Your Mission

A logo is a graphical element which is used to represent a business or product. CGArena already have a logo and now time comes to give a face to CGArena. You need to create a 3D mascot which represents CGArena in the graphical world, this can be realistic or toony mascot. This Challenge is a Work-In-Progress Challenge -- all contestants are required to post their work-in-progress images for community to critique/comment in order to qualify.

How the Challenge will be Run

This challenge will be a WIP (Work in Progress) Challenge. Each challenger (teams are allowed) is required to post Work In Progress (WIP) images, from the initial concept sketch to the final render on regular intervals in the CGArena forum. The purpose is that everyone can learn from each other, offer feedback and critiques.

1. Enter the Challenge by registering yourself on CGArena forum under Challenges > 3D Mascot Design > Your Real Name - Country

2. Submit your work in progress images in forum on a regular basis. Mascot sketch need to post within a week from the date you register yourself in the challenge.

3. Participate in the community by critiquing other challenger’s works in the respective threads. Only constructive critiques/feedbacks are allowed to post, please avoid postings like “Good image”, “Wonderful Going”, “Nice Image” and so on... Don’t try to insult any artist, artistic skill, concept or country. Otherwise you can be disqualified from the challenge.

4. You are allowed to use any 3d software for the creation of artwork. Premade models or preset based softwares/plug-ins which allows creation of human models are also allowed to use. Nudity is not allowed.

5. You are allowed to change the sketch anytime for the better mascot design.

6. Don't add background to the mascot design, design on white background. And give various appealing poses like sitting, standing, holding something, jumping, pushing, hiding etc... or any other appealing pose you can think of.

7. Try to add CGArena logo somewhere in the mascot so anyone can figure out from crowd. You can download the CGArena logo from here

8. Winner need to submit the final 3d model files with textures. So, CGArena can use in the promotion and give proper credit to the winner.

9. Submit your final entry till 14th Dec 2009, midnight 00:00 GMT.

10. You are allowed to use any type of post- production in the final image to make artwork better and richer.

11. There will be 1 winner and CGArena decision will be final.

12. Winners will be announced on 18th Dec 2009. All prizes will be available in the downloadable format from the Eat 3D website.

Terms and Conditions

1.) Entrants agree to give permission to CGArena to use Mascot in promotional materials (ads, PR, etc.), booth graphics and presentations for the promotional purposes.

2.) CGArena, in exchange for this release, will provide a credit for the Work within the material in which the Work is used. CGArena reserve the right of not using this mascot if we don't like the final submitted render.

Final Image Size

- Submit different poses in seperate images and don't try to join all poses in single image.

- Your final images dimensions should be print resolution (300 DPI). Do not send in a low-resolution.

- A guideline is minimum 1680 pixels wide and/or 1050 high, JPG, 300 DPI.

- Send your final images in zip or rar format with your name, complete shipping address, email, telephone number in a text file on email address "mascot [at] cgarena.com" with email subject “your forum username”. When we received an email then you will get Automatic reply confirmation email.
