d) Posing Studio – Posing a character was not so easy before. Character was automatically rigged and you can move, rotates the bones in X,Y,Z axis to give infinites poses but you can’t import the rigged models which already rigged by you in any 3d program.
Pre-defined poses gives you faster way of giving pose to any character but poses are limited to character to character. You can’t give karate kid pre-defined fighting pose to young girl by just one click because the two models come from two totally different Model Packs with different meshes as well as different skeleton and skinning. Don’t know how much genuine to expect but we love to see someway around to apply predefined poses of any character on anyone. You can import the props and paint a weight according to the desired location which is really good feature. Infact, advanced artists will enjoy this very useful weight paint feature.
e) Texture Studio – This studio doesn’t require any explanation because you all know what can be done in this studio. Inside Quidam changing materials, adding wrinkles, eyebrows, hair, and speckles is very easy by moving the sliders. You can also import and export the texture and make the changes in Photoshop.
f) Lighting and Render Studio – Quidam supports 4 light sources through which you can also cast the shadows. Lighting Mode also allows you to render the character in cartoon mode in which can broaden or narrow the outline around the character but this feature requires lots of improvement for convincing real time cartoon rendering. Rendering box allows you to enable or disable the Anti-aliasing, cast shadows and render in tga, jpg and png format. You can also render in layers to do modifications, masking later in Photoshop.
The cost of Quidam 1.5 is just $270 approx. and time to time several offers are also running like at the time of writing this review 20% discount is available. At that price this is really a steal deal. The cost of LPA plug-in is $408 approx. which is little on the higher side and N-Sided must think about revising the price of this wonderful LPA plugin. No doubt QUIDAM is very creative application and future versions will definitely worth a look. Export of Character in 3dsmax, Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave and Carrara through separate plugins only increase the use and productivity of the artists. We have given 4 stars to this application due to creative features and ease of use. If you are not good in modeling, or you are pre-visualizer, architectural visualizer, or like to churn out various models in limited time then this is must look application for you.
