One of the big task that you are facing right now is the texturing process, It seem that your structures are flowing everywhere. goodluck

texturing: very inclinated textures need displacement and very high settings to look well (or at least acceptable)...hope this won't be a problem.

Looking great mate...just be careful not to make the texture maps too big in comparison to the people? Maybe just a little too large at the moment...
Great work and update though!

Nice work ...and of course as they said before you got to work on the texture very hard now ... just asking will you have characters in the concept .... because I saw in your previews photos that there is some red cylinders and I thought they are characters !!!!

I am asking because I got the same thing and I made some low poly models to give more life to my concept ....

good work and take care

silvan: thanks!!

balfs: maybe you're right, but imho the size is quite exact. Maybe they used very big bricks :) Anyway, I'll check it out one more time. Thank you for the comment

shero: yes, you're right: the red cylinders are characters. Some days ago I posted a sketch too ;) maybe you can let me know what you think about it :)
I hope I'll have the time to model the characters: if not, I'll model only the more important and set the scene at night. In this way I can avoid to model crowds of people at the market, etc, still having my nice priests doing their strange rites at the temple. Secondly, the moonlight will add a bit of mistery to the whole scene.

Textures again. Hope I will ever finish...I hate this kind of massive texturing. Anyway, it isn't going to be perfect: I have no time enough (yes, you can say nothing is perfect, too :D). However, where you see tiling the texture it's still wip:)
You see two sketches too (varius buildings, I'll model them soon).

Yesterday I created my first rock surface. A simple tileable texture, a bit of sculpting in 3dsmax with the paint deformation tool, and a strong dispacement modifier. It works :) I don't know if this is going to be the final solution for the rocks, but I'm quite satisfied with the result.
Now I'm modeling the palace behind the temple. Updates soon.
