A few more hours work and here's the man's face. I think I finally decided that he will have teeth. It took a bit of thinking to decide as I quite liked him like this but now it seems to say "give me a smile", a full one. So tomorrow morning he'll get his denture.
Anyway, here's a modelsheet of his still toothless face plus an updated view of the full model as it stands at this point.

Thanks, no teeth yet but here are some changes to the face. As soon as I posted it I thought that I could easily improve on that. It may still not be his final look but ti won't be far from this.

Amazing work as usual just one thing and i.e. the face of the snake as you have worked on it so it should be shown too, I mean right now it is not looking like a snake face from this angle try changing the facing angle of the snake from front to left I think that will enhance the appearance of the snake face. Its just a suggestion. :)

I know, the snake will find its own dimension once I decide precisely what angle the scene will be looked at, so to place the head at the right angle within a composition. It's possible the scene will be looked straight on but it could be from a slight angle so to focus a bit more on the man. There's still some work to do that sofa frame, I need to change the size of the body of the snake, making it chunkier, to balance it more with the underling rest of the sofa frame, and sculpt some scales too of course. It will end up looking as a decoration of the frame of the sofa. But I don't want to emphasize it too much, it's a fine balance between giving it its rightful space and avoiding making a distraction of it.

More changes on the face and I've also done the gums and teeth. And just a bit of tongue to finish.
They are as one block, first sculpted on the model, then exported as a standalone piece, worked some more and appended back as a subtool.
I'm tempted to make separate teeth and gums, it would be a bit of work and I'm not sure if that's worth doing as it will anyway end up quite small, so it could stay like this with only some more sculpting on the teeth.

I think you're right. Good news is that I have today the whole afternoon available to work on it so I'm going to fix those teeth to the very end of the matter. I will also change that stick as it's actually a walking stick and it should be instead a blind person's cane. If I keep focused I may also finish all other small matters around the sculpt, call a day on it and move on to texture.

Here's the full model, finished! And now on with texturing.
I've remodeled the teeth and mouth, separating them. Each teeth is an individual mesh, I also repologized the head. It had become a bit stretched in places and I was worried about the effect on polypainting and what could happen if I decide to export the lot into another application, although there may be little time left to experiment with that now, anyway, just to play it safe I spent yesterday afternoon retopogizing it. It's quite relaxing actually.

Thanks, I too don't know what to do with the background. I have some options open in my mind. It's not going to be white, but it's not going to be cluttered either.

He he! In a different timeframe I would consider, it surely lends itself to go towards the freak show route. It's going in another direction though.
