Thanks.
Why did I retopologized that head? Well, at that stage I was very much in doubt as to how I would have proceeded, so I could foresee a situation where a mesh that's very stretched in parts could have created me visible problems. I didn't want to risk being in trouble at a later stage when time is very short so I decided that it would have been better to waste a couple of hours then have some very unsatisfactory part of the sculpt or the texture and no time to fix it.

Good work, keep it up!!

Thanks.
By the way, another reason for the retopologization was that one corner of the mouth had become wierdely stretched and although it was working as it was, any small change was making it ugly, so to give myself a flexible mesh that can be fine tuned on the face expression I had to retopologize. I did some changes there after retopo and it was really easy. More changes will come and it will be as easy. Had I not done that it would have been a pain.

Another update. I created a bit of environment and did a few render tests and then in Photoshop worked on finding a mood that fits with what I have in mind. Textures are still missing, lighting and everything else is completely wrong but at this stage that was not important, I needed to visualize where I had to go before going anywhere.
The environment is not finished though, there will be some drapings in the foregrounds on the left hand side, to better frame the image, but that will be done as a separate and added at compositing stage.

Well, personally it's a bit of a relief, I can take a sleep and really use the time to make it better.
Until last week I was planning to bring it into XSI, but then a substantial delay in my ideal schedule made me reconsider. I never used it but I have the 30 days demo just installed and my idea was to use this challenge to learn the process of bringing models from Zbrush into XSI. I already looked at a few tutorials on how to do it but because time was getting so tight I was giving up on it, I didn't want to meet some unknown problem with only one day to go, so I was now about to do everything in Zbrush despite the fact that it's not really an application designed to do full renders of complex scenes. This extension allows me to revive the plan and think about giving a try to XSI again.

Well let me welcome you to XSI then... Best tip i can give you is to just do a direct import into XSI without going the displacement route, or at least use a fairly high rez version of the mesh and a normal map. For a static mesh this is a lot easier then messing with displacements.

Oh and the work is bloody brilliant ! You, sir, are a fantastic sculptor ! The details, composition and sheer fun that the sculpt has are an inspiration :)

Thanks Ghonma, that's exactly the kind of advice I need.

Thanks Mitu8281, now there's time for me to look at that shirt again. I think that part of the problem lies in the collar that is a bit stiff actually. I modeled it as a fun one but it may be that a plainer one would work better and make the shirt look softer.

When you will start texturing this lovely scene? Texturing and rendering also takes lot of time.
