small update...

Postby k2k » 16 Jun 2006, 17:41

I have updated some "dirty" models
I have started to "paint" some ivy on the wall in the background: I think that I have to add more and even to add some branches without leaves...
I will update the scene later this evening
C&C please!

Hey k2k! Cool update, still looking for the frog though! ;) Guess it's not yet in this update! But yeah, the ivys are coming along cool, but I would add some more without any leaves this time... And I have a question, what will be in those light grey triangles that you have on the left and the right of your picture?! Keep it up!

The frog will be the surprise!
The "light grey triangles" are waiting for a yellowish grass (as I want my tests to render in less than 15 minutes with quite high settings, the grass and a "general" wetness have to wait one day or two...)
I am still working on the ivies: an update comes in 2 hours!

Ivy Update

Postby k2k » 17 Jun 2006, 02:45

So here comes the « ivy update »
I have added branches etc.
It looks maybe too flat and the placement is not the best mainly behind the long chairs. Certainly I will have to come back to ivy later but when looking at the ivy firstly I decided to age the wall in the background and now I am not sure that the wall will remain in concrete or will try a metamorphosis to a lower white fence (painted in white?)…
Some tests tomorrow…
The week-end will be long … :?

Thank you for c&c!

Ivy looks much better! But only one thing I'm wondering... Since I'm no ivy expert...when ivy hits the bottom of a wall like that, does it just stop growing?! Cause the seem at the bottom of your wall where the ivy stops is really sharp...don't know if you know what I mean...

I want to add some stones between the concrete ground (that I hope won't be a simple concrete ground tommorrow) and the wall, so for the moment there is a hole waiting for the stones

Woskar, I wanted to model a sunshade but then I realized that the sunshade was already in the garage because of the same reason that the water disappeared from the pool: you know … the autumn is there

concrete wall update

Postby k2k » 17 Jun 2006, 21:03

So actually as I have thought yesterday I believe that the fence is better than the concrete wall in the background… If there is any fan of concrete walls and especially a fan of my previous background let me know…

In the next few hours I will concentrate my work on the ground, on some additional damage textures for the pool and maybe finally on the dead leaves here and there

Fence looks much better I think! Fixes the problem of the seem at the bottom. And with on the fence, it looks great! If you want more destruction, those pool walls are made of tile no? Maybe taking out a few and damaging the walls here and there, a crack perhaps...just an idea.

In fact it is a good idea... I was trying to work on the "pool damages" this evening… In fact I was trying to render to texture the pool without any success: the texture have to be fairly big if I want to be able to render this image in a 3k resolution. After unwrapping and packing the uvs (it was just box mapping till now) it seems that the texture should be minimum 7k*7k, but max8 isn’t even able to render the template of such a big texture on my PC (with 3 Gig of Ram) announcing a “memory allocation error” … 4 hours lost… I will try to remap everything in Photoshop tomorrow… but 4 hours!

Well, i am keenly observing, fence is looking much better. And damaging the walls or crack idea by warpv is also good. I am just thinking will you able to complete this scene till 21st June. :?:

Definitely I have spent too much time on second importance stuff (frog, long chair dirt etc) so there will be a challenge in the challenge to achieve the image I have imagined before the 21st, but I am looking at my agenda to see what I do after the deadline to manage more time for the challenge… and I hope I will complete my image! :?
