Challenge: Juan Manuel Bautista Hoepfner: Mexico

Postby juanmanuel » 27 Sep 2006, 18:36

After a lot of peer presure from friends and family, as well as an undying yearning to participate, I have decided to particiate in the challenge once more. Happily, I have been improving from my first submission (which I did not finish in time) to the haunted challenge (even winning a consolation price) while learning to use even more 3d software (that seems to be a habit of mine, endless experimentation!), so who knows what this time around might bring?

As it is, it seems the stakes are ever higher, which will be a challenge by itself, and I hope I won't disappoint with my humble contributions.

So, foreword aside, after an unusual moment of insight and inspiration, I had my concept, barely over 10 minutes ago:

"Unkept urban garden"

Imagine you live in one of those increasingly common, cramped living quarters in a city, you are in your kitchen glancing out to the garden, or what is supposed to be a garden. You can barely see the water heater, the gas tank, some thrown bucket and garden utensils, some meager clotheslines with some dirty socks hanging on them. On top of the wall, some pots with just the rotten stem jutting out, and in the garden plot itself, overgrown grass and weeds. Oh, and a water reservoir with moss and stuff.

Now back to work, I just took a break to post my entry concept.
My 3D mantra: There is no such thing as saving too often, too much RAM, too much detail, or a renderer that is too fast...

And here is my concept sketch... I suppose... Still some ideas to iron out, but most of the idea I think can be easily grasped

Yes Paco, I thought some socks hanging from a chord would give a realistic touch. In fact a sock is precisely the first thing that I mave modeled for this challenge.

The sock's texture is a scanned sock of mine I found lying around my bed *blush*

Sorry I have not posted much lately. Lots of work. And I am off for the weekend (rest at last!). So this small update is all I will post until Monday comes.
