main character posed and unposed (textured)

Postby icedeyes » 07 Apr 2007, 23:34

this is the main character posed and in the default bining pose (textured)...

The pose was very difficult to achieve since there are a lot of overlapping flesh areas...

Will make the morph for the face very soon...

Have fun people

You`re concept is BIG, and modelling is a litle part of it (i think that composition, environment etc will be most important). Maybe you should not try to model it in hyper realistic way, because you`ll spend weeks struggling with toes, nose etc. maybe you should try to make this picture more synthetic. maybe it should look like old painting in the end. not as GI + UV`s made of photos.
Maybe you should look into art albums and search for a style. maybe renassance painting? maybe even a mosaic? Don`t know in the moment what would fit the best with thic mythological scenario.
blah. it`s only my suggestion:)
have a nice day:>

First of all, as budcai said, i wont concentrate on the tiniest details but i will try to make this an overall well constructed piece without letting serious details out... I am working on a laptop so processing power is somewhat limited (cant use displacement maps and high detail textures because it cant handle rendering) although i plan to make the final scene as complex as possible...

Right now i am working on atmosphere and environment... I will probably leave the hellhound (or so to speak) for the end...

Thank you again for all you suggestions...

just a mini preview test

Postby icedeyes » 15 Apr 2007, 18:31

ok... this is a super mini preview of the scene so far... more particles for water to come... the pyramid is a placeholder for the final pyramid...

hope you like it so far and i hope lightwave will be able to handle this scene...

I tried to simulate the water made by fluids in maya... used two crumble textures.. one for small and one for large waves for displacement and also a gradient based on the position of a null for the noisy foam thingy

Hypervoxels for clouds...

i think the amount of foam is too much on the sea surface....also it is looking quite unrealistic....!!
loved the modelling part though....!!
good luck !!

I think that it doesn't need to be realistic. It's story full of symbology. And as I remember there are no plans to make it realistic.. hmm.. we'll see when preview will be bigger and when characters will appear.
maybe you'll find some inspiration in this kind of surrealistic painting?

deathgod1986: i really want it to look as sureal as possible... i am not aiming for realism... having said that, i will reduce the foam on the sea and also work more on it since it seems to bother you... thank you very much for the input...

budcai: thanks for the support man but i think i do need to work more on the sea...

bustedgame: thank you for the input man... an further input will be greatly appreciated...

On a further note, i would like you to post (if you have the time) any ideas or things that bother you with the image and maybe some suggestions on further fixes... That will help me improve my image as i go..

On my progress... I worked mostly on the top of the screen (sky and pyramid) that i hope you will like... I love "sculpting" the clouds... i put the character in the scene along with the raft to check positions etc... I hope you like the composition..

The lower part s#$@s now but its mainly because everything except the clouds is using the default lighting... Also the raft texture is a placeholder and definetelly not final...

I am taking a break from correcting the sea for a couple of days until i create, texture and pose the hellhoud... Just to vent off with a little modeling (it really clears my mind)... So that i will return with a new view on this...

Any C&C welcome...

ok. with a bigger preview it's clear. you must tweak the sea a little:)
but I still like surrealistic atmosphere.

I hope its not ur final camera angle coz ur main character is just lost into the scene I mean the scene is having more emphasis on the sea than on the main scene. Keep working pal :)
