Beginner Sketching in ZBrush 4

Postby gusphraba » 15 Jun 2011, 18:51

Hello, I'm trying to understand sketching with ZBrush 4 using a Tablet PC. I have 3 questions, maybe one of you could easily answer it, please excuse my lack of knowledge.

1. Everytime I hit the Quick Sketch Button, something different happens. Sometimes I get a red plane, sometimes I get a grey plane, sometimes a black one. Also I get settings that don't seem to make much sense for sketching, for example a chessbox tile texture. How can I make sure I always get specific settings that I can choose once?

2. Is there a way to clear the sketch on the automatically created plane and start again or do I have to use the Quick Sketch Button again?

3. When hitting Ctrl+Z suddenly the plane changes from nutreal grey to a red tone, is that normal?

Thank you very much for your time!

It is normal but you can only create reference 2.5D picture in quicksketch. ZBrush is really a great software, though it's UI looks alien, if you understand it, i can be the master of ZBrush. You develop your ZBrush skills by watching video tutorials in Pixologic(ZClassroom) website. They provide everything from starting, those videos were dedicated for the begineers......
Zbrush is better and advanced than mudbox.....

Well, thanks. I've been struggling with it for years now. I always try to get used to it and then quit.

Interface and usage of tools are so different than other 3D programs, even rotating , moving, zooming are different. Pixologic Zclassroom helped me a lot.
