hey guys
I am struggling with the ground I am making. I am having a problem making it look "full" I've tried image planes for grass but it just looks bad! I have tried the scatter tool with image planes and again I dont like what it is giving me. Maybe I need loads and loads of image planes??? I also tried Max's hair tool but again, not loving the outcome. I created a displacement map for my ground to displace in only certain areas but I need more....I am open to any suggestions!!!
thanks
Daphne

Hmmm creating grass. Well The area near the camera more details as compared to the areas away from camera. Hair and fur is a great tool to use u have built in presets where u can find the grass preset it works fine. But if you need to try another option than either model it which is not feasible or use alpha mapping. what u can do is you can create alpha map or can model grass for the views near to the camera and for back portion u can use displacement or other techniques according to the use. :D :D

i like the texture job you've done. i don't like the house though: no one makes a house with so many holes in in and without orizontall support wood boards. the ground looks weird> like plastic> try hair and fur. the rest of the texturing its cools.i don't like the green light effect thats happening there, try a blueish sky light, with bigger values. blue is more proper for night scenes.
any way this is my opinion.
old school way..........best way

Hey Geostik,
Thanks for your comments. I am however, going for a specific look! It is not a house hahaha...It's a garden shed, cage like structure!
And of course, this is not 100% realistic. I appreciate your feedback though

I like the tricycle and the texturing alot, except that tree on the far left seems to have its texture stretched and the brown path in front of it seems flat. This house/fence thing lalso ooks confusing, but I'll be waiting to see what you have in mind for it as you progress

About the illumination, overall looks gr8. I like the atmosphere, but I think that the shadows most look little sharper, because we can’t see the shadows of the poles of the house.
