Thank you for all your comments guys.

I was planning to get a fair bit done on the weekend and even was expecting to get started on the color work, but instead I felt I needed to spend more time with my family, girlfriend and catch up with friends since I've been pretty busy at work lately.

I did get a few stuff done, such as refining the background and lighting a bit which will help me lot now that I know how I'm going to attack it. I increased a bit of contrast and did a few detail work.
The only thing that is frustrating at this moment is that I haven't decided how the boy look.

I'm planning to put a fair bit of work today and tomorrow and hopefully get some color work done and get started on the boy.

Thanks Again!

Fantastic image! You have a really nice value-composition going on there. Great work on the creature design too!
A tiny crit, your principal lightsource looks like it should be coming right from top (the tunnel-ish structure from where the creature is coming through?) but it seems more like from the top right? Just nitpicking maybe.
Anyway, colours please! Can't wait to see more progress :)

Nice work, very dramatic composition. And I really like the organic monster you've created. Cannot also wait for seeing some colours!

I like black and white pictures....but I guess you can add color to help with the mood.

NO COLOR YET!

I know there isn't any color progress done, but i just wanted to define the boy a little bit more. It is close to what I want now, so color work should get started tonight or tomorrow.

Nice progress with the details. Someone suggested that you should leave the image to grayscale and though i like colors a lot, it might be a good solution in this case, because people don't necessarily see dreams in colors. And the greyscale makes the scene feel like it's from an old horror movie, with bizarre creature and everything. Maybe the boy watched a monster movie before he got to bed? My imagination started running wild... But without doubt this concept will look great with or without colors.
