Challenge: Konrad Kuznicki: France

Postby k2k » 26 May 2006, 12:27

Hi everybody,

I had a quite precise idea about what I wanted to do yesterday evening so I began to model etc. And there is what I have till now.

The main idea is to capture the last warm rays of a summer afternoon (maybe after the rain?), summer which is gone just like the too cold water of the swimming pool…

The composition is inspired by the David Hockney’s painting "Day Pool with 3 Blues"
(The inspiration wasn’t conscious at first but when I was working my image reminds me of something I have already seen before and after several minutes of reflection I remembered this beautiful painting…)

Bustedgame, thank you for your support…

Paco, for sure caustics will be there in the final render (for the moment it is just a long evening work (ok +1/2 night in fact) and the 3rd attempt to render the image  )

Raul, there will be dead leaves, dirt, not so green evergreen plants etc

I will update my entry tonight with the only (or the main I don’t know yet) living character I am working on for this scene…

Thank you for your comments

 but evergreen stays green even in winter

I have thought about it for the wall in the background (if the wall is still there in a couple of days) and some yellowish grass on both sides of the swimming pool...

An update with a small caracter that will be included in the scene once textured, rigged and posed...
Even if it will occupy only a tiny area of the final image it was a pleasure to detail this frog a bit…

Ah, I remember the days of having to scoop those darn leaves out of the pool, only to turn my back and find some more in the pool again! :) Good luck.
