Welcome. The challenge is really heating up. I guess most people are working on their pieces.

Hi!

Postby shreya » 30 Apr 2007, 18:36

Thanks for the welcome everyone!!
I figured I should get started on this soon, hehe. Here are some doodles and ideas for the painting. I wanted this to be a sort of a super-nightmare and combine elements from the most commonly experienced nightmares. I don't really find monsters with big fangs and sharp claws very scary, so I hope my painting will be be a little more subtle than that - something that's not too in-your-face but can still send chills down your spine when you think about it.
So anyway, here's a jester-snake-worm, a naked girl who is trying to scream out loud in horror but can't and loads and loads of maggots at the bottom :). I still haven't figured out how I want the girl to be (pregnant? angle? hanging in mid air or surrounded by a maggot-hill?)
Cleaner sketch and a clearer concept-story soon, I promise!

Shreya, the subject you picked is my kind of style....creepy yet strangely beautiful. I can't wait to see the final piece.

Paco_Morales: Thank you! I want to keep it a sickly yellow green overall, I hope it turns out ok!

ashras99: My bad :( I've just not had the time to work on this, I really really want to finish this in time though, I'm excited about painting after soooo long now.

Anekoneko::d Nice to see someone with similar twistedness, hehe. I hope you like the update

I just started on the final piece. Argh, so frustrating to not have time to do something you really want to! Anyway, here's a tiny peek at the face, it's all I did anyway.I'm still having issues about the positioning of the other figure. I'll start working on the bg next, I want the hues/values in place before I really start on the foreground. It will be this rootlike-intertwining-nerve-ish organic material. I think :)

It is really looking good based on the textures of the face. I hope you finish on time coz I'm really looking forward to see your finished version.

Good Luck!

he still has time. Hell In 3dtotal speed painting challenge, 4 hours was considered luxurious.

oah, Shreya. It's an honor to see your participate in the challenge. The amazing artist that you are, your concept is mindblowing!!!

You have a very unique style and i could identify your specular wet paints anytime :), a perfection i will only die before achieving. All the very best.

Hope you complete the challenge, well, if not, please do post the finished work sometime so i can add it to my favourites :)
