Garden of Lights

After I got these images done, I applied a planar map to the building geometry as a group, and matched the size of the UVW gizmo to fit the size of the building. There is some stretching on some areas of the buildings, but since the scene was going to be very dark it is not as bad as if it were a daylight scene.


The shining stuff under the tree is made from scanned drawings, some references about Celtic designs and shapes in Photoshop, after they were made, I duplicated the layer in Photoshop and blurred it to have a glowing effect, after that I went back to Max and I added them into the opacity slot of a new standard material, and then I activated the self illuminated checkbox and set the colour to a very saturated orange.






When you activate the GI in Vray the self illuminated objects create some light, but you have to go to the Vray settings of the object to make it generate more light.



I apply this material to a plane and some of the objects in the scene and I started making some tests like this one:
