I added an EditPoly
modifier at the top of the
base and adjusted the
vertices a little.
Then added a
TurboSmooth modifier on mushroom base. Finally, I tweaked the overall
shape of the bottom a little
more by adding an FFD 4x4x4
modifier.
The top of the mushroom was lathed using the curve, then
smoothed using a TurboSmooth modifier. Finally it was tweaked
with an FFD 3x3x3 modifier.
The base of the mushroom
was textured using Gugila
GroundWiz (www.gugila.com).
I found this great to texture not
only mountains, but any kind of
organic, bumpy surface. I didn’t
want to make the mushroom
too realistic looking. Wanted to
keep the overall image kind of
cartoony.
For the top, I used a Cellular
map. This map allowed me
to add little circle patches,
that we can often see on
cartoony mushrooms. I added
the bump by using Gugila’s
GroundWiz texture.
