Working with Backplates: From time to time you have to create content which has to be added to real footage. In general you get that as AVIs, Quicktime movies or what ever from the customer. If it´s any movie file render it out as an image sequence. Then run my AnimationRange2EnvMap.mcr macroscript. It will set the time range to the exact range of the footage set as Env Map.

If you use VRay as your render engine read the manual concerning Proxies! They render like 100 times faster. The problem is only static non moving objects work as proxies since VRay. I would suggest to convert your stage e.g. to Proxies…

c) Xrefs: Make use of Xrefs..

If a model is in a more or less advance progress make an XRef scene from it. The rendering dept. should load that XRef to work with it. If the mesh get´s updated that happens automaticly in their scene. Same goes for XRef Materials from the shading dept. but we´re going to cover that later on.

That´s how you create Xrefs. :-)
