Making of the Siena
by Jason Godbey, USA

Introduction

The idea for this image came from a picture my friend Margit Eberl took. I liked the point of view and colors so this was my starting point.

Modeling

The modeling in this scene is pretty simple as it is with a lot of my work. I used splines to model the metal part of the café sign and metal chairs. This is what I used as reference for the café sign.

Spline and lathe for the lamps. Box modeling was used for the windows, shutters, and buildings. Things like the railings, supports, and pipes I used basic cylinder shapes. The plants and trees are from Xfrog. Xfrog plants are high quality, but they can really increase the render time if you use a lot of them in one scene.
