Hi all readers! I'll talk about the creation of work «Steel Creed» for the competition "Mage Towers", which was held this spring at the render.ru
Lately I've been trying to experiment more in the works, as it helps to develop the skills. I almost did the job in ZBrush, trying to focus more on the characters. It's boring to do the job when you don’t feel the development of your skills. Consequently, the new work I had to make a character in the foreground and as much as possible all drawn in ZBrush and then to describe everything in Photoshop and send to the 2d category of the competition. I have not engaged in 2d from long time, I wanted to paint. All of this desire, I spent the time on texture work and sent to the 3D category.
When I started making sketches, I wanted to keep the tower somewhere in the background. In general, make it unlike any tower, to avoid distract from the magician. Somewhere in the four sketches I re-read the topic of the competition and added a complete tower. Details are more convenient to build on the architecture.

I started to create the tower, making very small parts, each of which was finished by hand in ZBrush and painted textures. Because of this belief that I have the time to finish the work before the end of the competition, somehow disappeared.

To be sure that I have time, I went to the creation of a magician. I often passed from one component to another. Because brain is still fresh and more fun work left to do. You spend less time by spinning model in 3ds max and without adding anything (because there are no ideas), when the brain is doing the other part thinks that add to the previous one. The magician was very "techno" because I used a part of the tower :D well, and vice versa. Parts I turned and used different materials, so it's not so noticeable. And the style that made them look like.
