This image is the evolution of a previous project where the character was sitting and could be seen the full body. The idea was to show a feminine science fiction portrait with a peculiar helmet (I love to insert this kind of items, as I believe they are very intriguing) from where were spreading sunrays.

The creative process starts from the making of a digital sketch with Photoshop, to create the posture of the character, the photography, the colors and the light. Once defined this, the longest work to do is to "sculpt" the 3D figure follwing the sketch. During the work with Maya new ideas redefined the final result and the total luminosity. Also the rays from the helmet are bended and twirl.
Once created the Maya model I defined the "Unwrap" with both planar and circular maps to export on ZBrush to paint and project textures. During this process, I kept exporting the maps and to insert them in Maya in a miss fast skin shader, mixed with a blinn, to return on ZBrush and modify them.
