Step 5: Once you extrude press (G) from your keyboard to keep extruding and then extrude the newly created face downward 3 times as below.
Step 6: Now extrude one more time and then use scale to shrink the face inside a bit to make the gap, like in the picture indicating below.
Step 7: Extrude it 2 more times upward for the height, On the Top extrude then scale it down which you did above, then do one more extrude and scale it down
Step 8: Right click and from the pop up menu choose vertex. Now select the mid vertices like the one indicating below then in the top or side view move the selected vertices forward
Step 9: Ok now go to face mode again and then select the faces
