When importing all the pieces, it’s important that every obj import clicked on the "Make PolyMesh3D" in the TOOL panel, the same panel that you import it from. Then you have to deselect by clicking on the tool "Spear3D". You need to do this so the next obj-file doesn’t overwrite your last import.
When you imported all the obj-files then you can select your head, or any other part of the character. Then open the "SubTool" panel, and click the "Append" button, then selection of all the parts you have imported will appear. Select one of them. Then you can do this again until you got all the objects into the SubTool".
You can now select and hide/unhide parts on which you are not working etc.
Go to the "Geometry", here you can click the "Divide" button to get more detail in your geometry. Only the geometry you have selected in the "SubTool" will be affected. So you have to Divide every peace separately.
This small picture of cigarette smoke I found by doing a picture search on Google. I then scaled it up, and used the "Smudge Tool" in Photoshop to form and mould it the way I needed it to be. Then I used the eyedropper to sample some of the color in the smoke and painted with the brush. I only used the Brush tool and Smudge tool in this.
After painted on the character in Photoshop I flattened it into one Layer, then I selected the "Lasso Tool" and "Feather" it to 100px. I made a selection that included his eyes, nose, mouth and cigarette. Then I inverse the selection and choose Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Select "Colorize" and adjusted the "Hue" and "Saturation" to get the color and mode that I was going for. Hope you like these details and my image, if you have any comments or suggestions then post here or don’t hesitate in email me.
