Kyle Lambert is a digital artist from Cheshire, England. His latest accomplishment is a
photorealistic portrait created entirely on an Apple iPad. It is a digital painting of the performer

How the painting was done
1. As with most of the portraits that I paint, the initial stage is all about blocking in shapes.
In this iPad painting I began by figuring out the shape of the head, the hair and
positioning the eyes. This is often the most important stage as it is often difficult to
correct the basics at a later stage.
In the Brushes app you can specify the brush size and color with one simple menu.
2. The next step was to add the basic facial features and get a reasonable likeness. When
happy with the sketch I began painting in areas of tone. In this painting it was mainly
about adding highlights to the nose, forehead, cheeks and lips. I also began the process
of detailing the hair.
