I used a quick mask to extract the two dragon shapes. I make a selection of it and save it under select menu in Photoshop. In this way I have more control on the piece and you can work on foreground and background separately. I test different kind of color layers in overlay mood that give freshness to the image and get rid of the moody color that I have. I gave the far background on right a little of green and also I used a different tones of red, orange, yellow and purple.
To avoid being bogged down with lot of layers after sometime if I happy with changes I always merge down the layers and flatten them down, than I make a duplicate on top of that layer and start adding more details and correction.
I almost use every adjustment that Photoshop provides under image adjustment menu. I`m not getting into these adjustments though there are cool tutorial about this subject.
