Project Overview - No Monster Here by Davide, Italy

Hello everyone, my all illustrations start from a pencil sketch and this image was also not different. I started with a pencil because I think it is very useful for me to decide the exact shape of my characters. I dedicate most of the time studying the image in pencil. I believe strength of every image is in the story/idea!

After completing the sketch, I imported the picture in Photoshop and set the pencil layer to "multiply". This is very useful to always have a reference for my colors.
I start painting the element of interest. In this case I started with the skin of the monster. I have created a solid color and start painting the monster skin. I always keep my pencil as a reference level.

Based on the previous stage, I created one or more levels in "multiply". I paint the shadows of my character and tried to paint very carefully. Just trying to give dimension to my character.
