Tips and Tricks in Photoshop CS2 by Ashish Rastogi, India

If you've noticed how the experts get the work done in half the time, it's because they know all the tips and tricks. And after reading these you will also move one step further in terms of speed. So, lets move.

Tip # 1 : Add Details in your Photos

Digital Cameras embed info in the photos like Date created, Resolution, Bit Depth, Color Profile, Camera Make/Model, F-Stop, ISO Speed Settings, Focal Length and much more (called EXIF Data). And can be accessed through File > File Info

You can also add your details in the photos like Creator Name, Address, City, State, Image Title, Website, Email and much more (called IPTC Data) through File > File Info or through IPTC core in Adobe Bridge. So, people viewing the photo might find important. And if you want to apply the Metadata to multiple photos, then just select (Ctrl + Click) all the photos in the Adobe Bridge and enter the info you want to add.

Tip # 2 : RGB Histogram

When you're using Photoshop's Histogram palette (Windows > Histogram), you can see a histogram of each individual channel. Just select "All Channels View" and then choose Show Channels in Color from the palette's flyout menu, and then the Red channel histogram will appear in red, the Green in green, and the blue in blue.

Tip # 3 : Reset your Character Settings

In Photoshop, you can adjust everything from tracking, kerning, and many of other characteristics. The downside is—the Character palette keeps your last-used settings as a default. If you did some major type tweaking to your last line of type, it might need some major "undoing" in the Character palette to get you back to normal type settings. Rather than manually resetting every field, you can quickly reset Photoshop's type to its "default" standard settings by going to the Character palette and choosing Reset Character from the palette's flyout menu.
