4) It was time to get rid of the drawing lines and to work more freely, so I merged the color level with the drawing level by using the smudge tool, I mixed the drawing line with the color. This method of blending the color takes some time and I admit this is bit boring but it allows to have much control over every single stroke.
Example - Get the smudge tool, set its opacity around 80% (a different percentage do different results...)
I used a default brush, feel free to experiment with custom brush made by yourself...

5) On this drawing line faded in the color layer, I continued to painting lights and shadows using alternating brush tool with smudge tool; I corrected the anatomy of the characters and added the details.
I created three new layers: on the first one switched in overlay mode; added some grain (example “1”); on the second layer (multiply mode), created a black and white clouds texture which gave movement at the flat colors (example “2”); on the third layer (multiply mode), created a black and white radial gradient from white to black to darken the edges of the image in order to add more depth to the image (example “3”).
Now the image had slightly more analog face...
Example 1 - Create a overlay layer, fill it with 50% black, add grain (filter > texture > Grain), scale the layer (edit > trasform > scale), decrease opacity and the saturation (image > adjustment > hue/saturation) according to your liking.
Example 2 - Create a multiply layer, fill it with black/white clouds (filter > render > clouds), scale the layer (edit > transform > scale), decrease opacity and set the blur level (filter > blur > Gaussian blur) to your liking.
Example 3 - Create a multiply layer, fill it with black/white radial gradient and decrease opacity to your liking.
