Hi there! This are the sequential steps of my scene “Dragon Walk” made for CGArena.com Challenge. I have used 3ds max 9 and mental ray renderer for this image.
Concept: I thought I would’ve made that simple dragon from the sketch, but as I was going on I saw that It was too simple and my opinion was that a complete scene was better, so I decided to make my scene richer. I have to say that I was close to lose my main character because of too many objects and the texture also that I created for the scene. But let’s just start from the beginning.
Modeling of Dragon:
1st Dragon: Honestly I couldn’t find that much images over the web to see how I could make a dragon to seem toonish, but with little more work I did it to make it look funny.
I modelled half of the 1st dragon using Editable Poly and after the 1st step I decided to work on some skinning poses. I made some tests to see the right position. Once decided the final pose I finished the model and applied UVW Modifier for the textures. Then I made the eyes and the 2 teeth.
