Making of The Revenge of Snowman by Alex Cervantes, Mexico
This smoke was made with a smoke brush. This is actually the alpha map and the color texture is basically the same but with the whole grey page. I really didn’t have time and the Afterburn plugin was using too much memory to render together so I used this really simple method.
The little cabin was actually very low poly because I kept getting a vray error for too many polys so I tried my best to keep it low. I think it worked out well. It has about 600 polys or less. The textures aren’t great for the same reason that it was going to be so far way they weren’t going to be seen. This was added to give the picture more depth.
Now render a flare in 3D and composite with alpha and same procedure followed for the dust so after this final picture came along. The complete project took about two weeks to make on and off. So, an estimated time would be about 50-60 hours to make. Which I know is a lot for such a simple picture but I liked it. 3ds max 7, Vray 1.42, Zbrush and Photoshop were used to make this picture. I just want to say thanks to CGArena for giving me and other people the opportunity to take place in such a wonderful challenge. Also thanks to all the sponsors otherwise this challenge wouldn’t be possible.
