We are currently hiring for our action-packed CG animated feature that tells the story of a Romeo and Juliet style love story set against a Mexican “Day of the Dead” back drop directed by Jorge Gutierrez (”El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera”) and produced by Guillermo del Toro!
The Edit Assist works with our senior artists and is responsible for managing and documenting the turnover of shots from editorial to production as well as the day to day support of the department. It requires a pro-active person who is able to think from the filmmakers point of view as well as understand the needs of the fx, lighting and compositing artists. | | Job Requirements: | • Transcoding footage and organizing Avid projects for editorial work such as commercials and short form.
• Inform editor and producer of any foreseeable issues regarding dailies (i.e. improper transcodes)
• Uploading of elements to internal networks and external client/FTP sites
• Output to various formats including DigiBeta, Beta SP and DVD
• Distribute reference media to all departments
• Cut in latest versions of shots and prepare for final film-to-tape transfer sessions
• Make sure elements and sequences are available for review by editors and creatives
• Client Services / Support for in-house editorial client sessions
• Edit animatics and artist reels under editor supervision for internal projects
• Archive completed project data and elements
Education and Experience:
• Advanced knowledge of AVID Media
• Advanced knowledge of digital workflows
• Knowledge of Final Cut Studio and Dreamweaver
• Additional software proficiencies (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Microsoft Office)
• Strong multi-tasking capabilities
• Ability to appropriately handle highly stressful situations
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• A creative problem solver who is critical of his or her own work
• Machine Room knowledge is a plus
