Artistic Spot using Origami Animated Frames

In a television spot produced by Nola Pictures, multi-hyphenate Juan Delcan, in collaboration with creative agency Kelley Habib John, helmed an amusing :30 featuring stop frame animation for Webster Five Cents Savings Bank headquartered in Webster, MA. Using one-dollar bills, which were formed into various custom origami designs created by renowned origami artist Joseph Wu, the spot captures the essence of Webster Five's ongoing and long-standing commitment to community.
Kelley Habib John developed the campaign strategy, creative concept, and directed the production of the spot, while Nola project lead Juan Delcan and his team of animators then seamlessly wove each stage of the folded artwork into a whimsical narrative.
The concept was based on using a voiceover to recount the events of 1868, the year Webster Five opened for business: Wyoming became a US territory, Thomas Edison filed his first patent, and Webster Five opened its doors. The dollar morphs into symbolic counterparts to the speech: Wyoming's state emblem, a light bulb, and a classic bank building. When the voice extols Webster's power to help build communities, the bill morphs into skyscrapers, houses and an entire neighborhood. And as the narrator talks about the bank's continued strength, the greenback transforms into an arm with a fueled bicep, which produces an umbrella to symbolize protection and then shakes another outstretched arm to represent the bank's unending commitment to customer service.
