In this great project on hard surface modeling in Lightwave 10 we recreate a famous landmark structure - Tower Bridge. We start off by breaking down the structure and block out the main parts of the bridge working big to small before we move in and add the finer details.
This tutorial will show you how to approach complex models of this kind by starting out with simple primitives and follow references to get good proportion and clean geometry. We look at cutting and aligning surfaces, copying, pasting and beveling edges to get the beams, bolts, railings, towers and deck to make up the main parts of the bridge. From here we continue on with adding all the little nurnies and greebles that defines the structure itself and makes it recognizable.
Tower Bridge is sometimes mistakenly referred to as London Bridge, which is actually the next bridge upstream.
